You need more time to file your taxes? If so, you have to file your from (Form 4868) to get an extension of time to file your tax return.
If you are not able to file your Federal Individual Tax Return by the due date, you can get an automatic 6-month extension to file it. All you need to do is to file Form 4868 – the Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File US Income Tax Return. But, you must file Form 4868 by the due date for filing your calendar year return (usually April15) or the fiscal year return. Once you have filed Form 4868, you can file your return any time before the end of the 6-months extension period.

your total tax liability and subtract how much you have already paid.
After e-filing Form 4868, you can make payments by either authorizing an electronic fund withdrawal from your checking or savings account or by credit card.
In case, you want the IRS to figure your tax or if you are under a court order to file your returns by regular due date, you cannot use the facility of automatic extension of time to file.
